Who You are in Christ
Many people are saved by the Blood of Jesus Christ through His Finished Work on the Cross. However, they may not know their true identity in Christ once they become saved. Also, some people gain a growing understanding of who they we are in Christ, yet the world tries to make them forget. We get bogged down by responsibility and worry. Or we get distracted by covetousness and insecurity. And we lose sight of who God created us to be. But when we fully embrace who we are in Christ each day, we will find the purpose and peace our soul craves.
No matter how we feel or what the world says, we must remember two things:
God created you, and He created you with purpose!
5 Reminders of Who You are in Christ
Whenever we feel negative emotions bombarding our thoughts and beliefs, we need to align our eyes with heaven.
“Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth” (Colossians 3.2 NLT).
As we continually bring the truth of our identity into our thoughts, we will begin to believe what the Bible says about us. We must learn to see through God’s eyes and not from our own distorted viewpoint. Only when we can see our true identity in Christ, will we be able to love in God’s powerful purpose.
Reminder 1: You are the Image of God
“So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them” (Genesis 1.27 NLT).
This is enough truth to fill our hearts with so much gratitude and awe. God, the Creator of the Universe, created us–both men and women– in His image. We have all of God’s glory, beauty and authority woven into the very fibers of our existence. We have a fountain of God’s goodness within us that only Jesus can reveal. Whenever we feel unworthy or less than, we can remind ourselves that we are made in the image of a Holy God!
Reminder 2: You are Masterpiece
“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago” (Ephesians 2.10 NLT).
A masterpiece is a one-of-a-kind creation that is priceless. How many times do we feel like we are just average and nothing special? But that is not what the Bible says. God has placed great value into us. In fact, we have so much value that God died for each of us (Romans 5.8). Someone worth dying for has to be valued and loved!
