Don’t let your mistakes stop you. The Bible says we will be judged when we get to heaven, but because of Jesus and His Finished Work on the Cross, it won’t be judgment of our sin. Our sins have been washed absolutely clean. Instead, we will be judged on what we did in the brief life according to the will of God. What actions, thoughts and words are rooted in the Vine of Christ? Only that which is rooted in the resurrection of Jesus will be able to rise up in eternity. That which is rooted in our self-will dies when our bodies fade.
God gave us free will because He wants sons and daughters, not robots. But He knew we would make mistakes and fall far from His Holy Standard, which is why He already had His redemption plan in place. God rested on the 7th day knowing that the Messiah would be Lord over the Sabbath, and He would redeem all six days that were once pleasing to God.
Yes, we will stumble and fall and make stupid mistakes, but we can’t let fear stop us from achieving our destiny–the purpose for which God created us. The more we do in obedience to God, the more mistakes we are liable to make. Just like walking. The more you walk, the more likely you will trip on a rock or a crack in the road. But we can’t be a people who bury their talents because they let the fear of making mistakes rule them. Our mistakes do not follow us to eternity, but what we do for God’s glory will follow us forever!
Yes, there were two trees in the Garden. One is our free will and the other is Jesus, the Son of God. As we use our free will to follow God’s direction and achieve the purposes for which we were born, we can trust that the Tree of Life is constantly wiping clean the mistakes we create while activating our free will with actions produced by obedience and determination. Never give up because you aren’t perfect. Jesus has already given you His perfection, and God is working that perfection into every area of your life until the day you meet Jesus face to face.
